PENNY LANE Pub

Penny Lane Pub is a two-story English style pub and restaurant with a friendly, neighborhood atmosphere.

Our menu features a variety of quality, casual pub fare such as half-pound Angus Burgers, Shepherd’s Pie, Nachos, Sensational Salads, Steaks and Fish & Chips. Dinner menu items include a variety of creative seafood, beef and chicken entrees.

The pub also offers creative daily specials, prix fixe dinners, specialty wines and a world class beer list. The pub is active on the weekends with entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:30 – 10:00 in the downstairs pub. Quiet dining is still available in our upstairs dining room and bar. Spring and Summer opens another dining option, the Main Street patio and Portobello Alley.

Chef Wilson Castaneda

WILSON CASTANEDA
OWNER / CHEF

Chef Wilson is 35 and hails from Sevilla De Oro, Ecuador. He was raised in a small mountain farming town, high up in the Andes. His family was self-sustaining, and he started cooking at age 6. He moved to the United States at 18 and found work in the restaurant industry; his first cooking job was at the Griswold Inn. He has been with Penny Lane Pub since 2006, working his way up from line cook.

Owner Alex Foulkes

ALEX FOULKES
OWNER / OPERATOR / BEER GUY / REAL TALL DUDE 

Alex grew up in western Massachusetts (the good side of the state). After high school he attended Ithaca College in upstate NY and lived there for a number of years afterwards. Working first as a dining room manager and after for a restaurant/catering company. Alex got a taste for the industry and hasn’t looked back since. Wanting to be closer to home and family he moved with his wife, Steph to Old Saybrook. Alex and Wilson bought Penny Lane Pub from the previous owner, Bob Hansen in 2016. When not at the restaurant you can find Alex playing with his daughter (also tall), wife (also tall) and cat (not tall, just fat).

Holly Baird

HOLLY BARRY
FOH QUEEN / WEARER OF MANY HATS / MANAGER / SINGER

Holly grew up off the Connecticut shoreline in the neighboring town of Clinton. Holly now resides in Higganum with her husband and four daughters. With over fifteen years of experience in the world of hospitality and ten at Penny Lane, Holly has worked her way up to the Front of House (FOH) manager. When she is not greeting guests at the podium, you may find her singing with the band on the weekends.

Alexis Lenard

ALEXIS LENARD
SERVER / MANAGER / TRAINER / IDEAS WOMAN / MARKETING AND SOCIAL

Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Alexis went to Southern Arkansas University where she studied early childhood education. This southern girl has lived in Old Saybrook for four years and worked at Penny Lane since 2016. At the pub, Alexis can be found sometimes managing, sometimes serving, sometimes singing/dancing, and sometimes training all the staff.  Alexis also manages the social media stuff for the restaurant too! When not at the restaurant you can likely find Alexis at the beach (Shes very tan), she loves it there.
